South Florida Distillers, known for their award-winning hand-crafted rum, FWAYGO, is expanding to a 4,600 square foot location along the South Federal Highway corridor in East Fort Lauderdale. The new distillery will be located at 2608 South Federal Highway adjacent to the Kreepy Tiki Bar & Lounge.

South Florida Distillers is expanding to keep up with high demand, and provide additional space for their craft spirits incubator program, which currently includes small batch production for Florida Kush, a handcrafted 100% Blue Agave Spirit, Mumbledrum Bourbon, Prescribed Spirits Gin, and more.

“This expansion and move is essential to the growth of South Florida Distillers and the FWAYGO brand,” explains Avi Aisenberg, Co-Founder of South Florida Distillers. “The new production space will solidify our position in the Florida craft distillers’ scene and communicate that we are here to stay! Aside from the new tasting room and production space, our new location will allow us to throw more events that continue to cultivate the craft spirits scene here in South Florida.”

This new distillery will allow South Florida Distillers to produce 550 bottles of rum a day. Transitioning from their current equipment to stainless steel stills, including a 5000 liter still that is one of the largest among the craft alcohol community in South Florida. This will allow for higher efficiency and production in a fraction of the space.

In addition to improved production space, South Florida Distillers will be expanding their tasting room to accommodate tours, tastings, light fare, and a hangout for locals. “With an ideal location between Fort Lauderdale International Airport and Port Everglades, we’re the perfect spot for travelers to spend a quick layover or kill time before catching a flight,” says Joe Durkin, Aisenberg’s partner and Co-Founder of South Florida Distillers.

South Florida Distillers joins similar concepts Lauderdale Brewing, Riverside Market South, and Kreepy Tiki in building South Federal Highway as a destination for craft cocktails, beers, and spirits. The move to their new facility is slated for Summer 2016; grand opening details will be announced via the brand’s Facebook page at facebook.com/sofladistillers.

South Florida Distillers is Fort Lauderdale’s first distillery creating handcrafted rum from Florida-grown sugar cane. Owned by friends Avi Aisenberg and Joe Durkin, South Florida Distillers released their first product, FWAYGO in January of 2015. A true taste of Florida, FWAYGO Hand Crafted Rum has a hint of citrus with notes of Meyer lemon and just a bit of peppery heat on the nose. FWAYGO is distilled from locally sourced high-grade molasses, using a slow fermentation and small cuts to develop uniquely rich flavors and a smooth finish. FWAYGO is 40% ABV. South Florida Distillers is located 1110 NE 8th Avenue #3C Fort Lauderdale, FL 33304, and appointments for their Tasting Room can be made through their website.
